Friday Follies
Volupte is a unique experience, so sometimes there is slight confusion from Volupte Virgins, which is completely understandable! Is Volupte a bar? A restaurant? a show?... So many questions so little time, so here's the deal my friends…
Volupte is a Burlesque Bar down the back streets of Chancery Lane in London and put simply, Burlesque means "imitation" - to satirize or parody. Burlesque is a style of live entertainment that encompasses pastiche, parody and wit. The genre traditionally encompasses a variety of acts such as dancing girls, chanson singers, comedians, mime artists and strip tease artistes, all satirical, tongue-in-cheek, and usually with a saucy edge. The striptease quotient of Burlesque is not akin to modern day strippers; one is theatre, the other is not.
the show we experinecd was burlesque, vintage cabaret, comedy and general mischief. It was all about Indulgence...Burlesque Starlet Gwendoline Lamour froliced with a rather large shoe, Lady of the Manor Vicky Butterfly became quite enamoured by a beautiful cream cake, and Miss Polly Rae showed us all what happened when she overheated.
Needess to say it really was a fantastic night, something very different that I would highly recommend!
