good ole times and festive spirits....

I had a lovely surprise last week meeting up with everyone from Canberra who is over here, at a club in Leicester square, it really felt like the old days back on ress, someone even suggested we head to Mooseheads afterwards! Good times.

This week at work we had the launch of the Poppy Appeal in Covent Garden, the Legions biggest fundraising event, which runs along side the Festival of Remembrance next weekend. Its all very exciting as my friend and I will be watching the performance (after two long hard days in the festival office), from some posh box in the Royal Albert Hall, somewhere near the Royal family. Well they may not be right next to us, but they won't be far away. Its one of the biggest annual national events here so I feel very lucky to be involved. I imagine it will be quite moving. And seeing so many people walking the streets wearing there little poppies on the chests is quite touching for me, for I am part a charity that means so much to the British people and makes such a positive impact in the community. I never really expected such a fabulous opportunity for me to arise in coming over here.

Last weekend I spent the whole weekend browsing market stalls,- namely Christmas shopping at Spitalfields, and food shopping at Borough markets, and also went to check out the impressionists exhibition at the National Gallery. To my disappointment there weren't too many Van Goughs or Picasso’s, however that’s what Amsterdam is for! Only two weeks away....

Temperatures dropped rapidly to freezing this week, calling for me to wear almost all my wardrobe at once to walk to the tube in the morning, before overheating whilst underground. Unfortunately I feel the bizarrely warm autumn London weather has finally closed its doors and gone back to where it belongs, and left us with icy cold chills in the air. Its not so bad though, as the sun still shines during the day and the clear skies at night are strangely beautiful against the festive Christmas decorations on Piccadilly Circus and regents street, so when I trot home in my big jacket and scarf I feel very European.

This weekend I think I might go for a wild ride on the London Eye, between meandering the streets of Camden with Erin, watching the fireworks on firecracker night and finalising my accommodation in Venice for boxing day and maybe going to a punch party with the rest of the Ressies crew……… except we are not at ress anymore …so I guess that’s a no then.
